Sixth studio album by the performer. More R&B influenced pop than the disco sound of previous years that was experiencing a backlash, also reflected in using producer Quincy Jones. Paul McCartney would be the first artist to be credited as a guest artist on a Jackson album.  A total of seven of the tracks were released as singles, both “Beat It” & “Billie Jean” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The album also hit number one on the Billboard 200 and was the top album for 37 non-consecutive weeks. Winner of a record-breaking eight Grammy Awards, the album is still listed as the top best selling album.  Besides the US it was number one in several European countries, as well as Japan, Australia & Canada. Certified 34x platinum in the US, it’s a triple diamond record in Canada, the only album to achieve this feat.
