Fleetwood Mac — Oh Well

Single release of the track by the British band, that’s written in two distinctive parts. Part one is a fast electric blues song, part two is an instrumental piece. In North America it was available on album on the 1970 revised version of Then Play On. In Canada it’s found at the end of the album-side on the 1973 version of the same album. The single spent 16 weeks on the UK singles charts, peaking at number two. It peaked at 55 on the Billboard Hot 100, the band’s first to appear on that chart, & the only one to appear before the Nicks/Buckingham iteration of the group. In Canada it reached 54, & was the group’s second charting single there, after “Albatross”. The song has been viewed as an early crossover between blues rock and heavy metal, Rolling Stone magazine placed the song at number nine in their list of the top 50 Fleetwood Mac songs. It’s been covered by a number of artists, including Deep Purple, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers & Canadian blues rock performer Colin James.
